Introduction of Experience of FENG Zhengen in Treating Sudden Deafness with Acupuncture and Moxibustion

Abstract：FENG Zhengen holds that sudden deafness correlates with the dysfunction of the brain and all zang-fu organs，butitis primarilyatributed to the brain，liver，galbladder，and kidney．Thecore pathogenesis involves eitherdysregulatedqiflowdueto liver-galbladderdysfunctionor liver-kidneydeficiency.Impairedqi-bloodflow aroundtheears causesauditorydysfunction，andqi-blood insuficiencyaround theears leads todeafness，andthus the treatment should be basedon deficiency-excessyndrome diferentiation．When applying acupuncture and moxibustion to treatsuden deafness，FENG Zhengen emphasizes primary diferentiation betweendeficiencyand excessyndromes to guidethe acupointselection，followed bydetailed diferentiationofsyndrome types forflexible modified prescription， andatentionshould be paid totheregulation of emotional states andand functionsof zang-fu organs，which demonstrates a good clinical effect.
