Effect of Wuling Capsules Combined with Gastrodin Injection on Liver Function and Cognitive Function in Epilepsy Patients

Abstract:Objective：To observe the effcts of Wuling Capsules combined with Gastrodin Injection on liver functionandcognitive functioninepilepsypatients.Methods：A total of8O epilepsy patientsadmitted to the Departmentof Neurology in Deqing County People's Hospital for treatment from August 202O to April 2024 were randomlydivided into thecontrol group andthetrial group，with 40 patients in each group.Thecontrol group was given gastrodin injection intravenously；thetrial groupreceivedtheoraladministrationof Wuling Capsules inaddition tothe control group.The clinical efectsand incidence of adversereactions werecompared between thetwo groups.The changes in EEG power，liver function [alanine aminotransferase（ALT），aspartate aminotransferase（AST），and γ （20 -glutamyl transpeptidase（GGT)]，and cognitive function[scores of the Mini-Mental State Examination（MMSE）and Montreal Cognitive Assessment（MoCA)]were compared between the two groups before and after treatment.Results: The total clinical effective rate in the trial group was 97.50% （39/40），and that in the control group was 80.00% (32/

40），with the diference being significant ( P0.05 ).After treatment，the MMSE and MoCA scores in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment ( P 0.05).Conclusion：The combination of Wuling Capsulesand Gastrodin Injection has a good therapeutic effect on epilepsy，which can improve EEG power and enhance cognitive function，with minimal impact on liver function and high safety.
