Relationship Between Exercise Behavior and Sleep in Female College Students: Mediating Effect of Self-control

Abstract:Toinvestigatewhetherphysical exercisecandirectlyafectself-controlandsleepquality,andwhether self-controlfactorsplayamediatingrole intheimpactpathofphysicalexerciseonsleepquality.Inthisstudy,890 femalecollge students in southwest China wererandomlyselectedand investigated byquestionnaires.Theresults showed that physical exercise had a significant effect on body BMI (r=0.055 ),andon thevisual acuityofFemale College Students (r=0.076 ).The statistical differences in sleep self-regulation control level and sleep quality caused by different levels of exercise among female college students are significant (p=0.000) ),and there were statistically significantcorrelationsamong physical exercise,self-control andsleepquality,physical exercise was positively correlated with self-control (r=0.116) and negatively correlated with sleep quality (R=-0.038 ).Therewasanegative correlation between self-control and Sleep Quality R=-0.365 )Exercise positively predicted self-control (β=0.14,p< 0.01),and negatively predicted sleep quality(The lower the score,the higher the quality) β=-0.02 , p<0.01 ): Self-control negatively predicted sleep quality (β=-0.41,p<0.01) .Physical exercise can directly and positively affect sleepquality,orindirectlythrough themediating effectofself-control.Theresearchresults indicatethatactiveand moderateintensityphysical exercisecan indirectly improve students'sleepquality through theself-control system,as well as effectively improve students' sleep quality directly.
