Design of a digital management system for mold equipment based on edge computing

Abstract:This paper addresses the issues of data silos, slow response,and high maintenance costs in mold production equipment,and designs a digital management system based on edge computing. The system adopts the BECMES architecture model for overall design,which includes the physical device layer,edge computing layer,blockchain layer,and application layer. The integration of blockchain and edge computing layers optimizes the traditional manufacturing execution system (MES). By establishing data processing and decision support mechanisms, the system enables intelligent task allocation between edge devices and edge servers. A genetic algorithm is used to optimize task allcation and scheduling,and tasks are offloaded to execution endpoints via the network,while monitoring execution time and energy consumption to reduce overall system overhead. The system integrates production planning,execution management, and assembly management to comprehensively enhance the management eficiency of mold production. Test results show that the system achieves an average response delay of 0.75s ,a data transmission time of 0.73s , and a data transmission volume of 0.52Mb ,demonstrating superior performance. After the system implementation, the total workforce was reduced by 20% ,mold rework rate decreased by 60% ,and the product quality qualification rate reached 98% . This system helps optimize production processes, improve equipment utilization, reduce maintenance costs, and promotes the digital transformation and upgrading of the mold manufacturing industry.
