Research on the Development Path of Guangzhou's Silver Economy Based on Patent Data

Abstract: [Purposes] Against the backdrop of accelerating global aging and intensifying urban competition,this study focuses on Guangzhou's silver economy. It aims to clarify its development status and challenges,explore an optimization path driven by the synergy of scientific innovation and intellectual property,assist Guangzhou in building a benchmark ecosystem for the smart elderly care industry,provide a "Guangzhou Solution" for global aging governance,and promote the high-quality development of the silver economy.[Methods] By investigating industry data and literature related to the silver economy,key technical segments were identified. Search elementsand strategies were optimized,incorporating keywords,IPC clasification codes,applicants,etc.Searches were conducted in patent databases folowed by denoising and application number merging.Patent data,along with market and industry-related information,were comprehensively analyzed.[Findings] Technological innovation in Guangzhou's silver economy exhibits characteristics of "leading total volume with breakthroughs in specific areas",possessing 2,036 valid invention patents ranking 4th nationall.Enterprises are the main drivers of innovation, with strong market demand and a solid industrial foundation. However,challnges remain,including a mismatch between the supply and demand of scientific and technological innovation,a lack of diversity in patent awards,low industrial concentration,and insufficient driving force from science and technology.[Conclusions] Development challenges can be addressed by hosting exhibitions and competitions to stimulate innovation,creating distinctive consumption scenarios to accelerate the commercialization of results,enhancing industrial concentration to build an integrated patent brand ecosystem,and deepening the role of science and technology to reshape the innovation chain. These measures will promote the transformationof Guangzhou's silver economy towards greater intelligence,refinement,and high-end development.
