Rationality Analysis of the Design Method for the Solar Collector Area of a Solar-Assisted Ground-Coupled Heat Pump System with Cross-Seasonal Heat Storage

Abstract:[Purposes] To study the rationality of the design method for thesolar collctor area of the solar-assisted ground-coupled heat pump (SAGCHP) system with cross-seasonal heat storage, the investment cost and the operating performance of the SAGCHP system were analyzed.[Methods]A simulation model of the SAGCHP system was built using TRNSYS software. Then,8 design operating conditions were simulated and analyzed.[Findings] The results showed that the investment cost and the operating performance of the SAGCHP system with cross-seasonal heat storage were greatly aected by the solar collctor area. Compared with the traditional ground-coupled heat pump (GCHP) system that only provides heating,the soil temperature in the borehole field,and the energy efficiency of the heat pump unit were allimproved after 2O years of operation.[Conclusions] When designing the solar collctor area, it is necessary to consider the heat storage days of the borehole field.Moreover,the designed heat collection capacity should be determined based on either the annual cumulative cooling and heating loaddifference of the building or the annual cumulative heat extraction and rejection diference of the ground heat exchangers.
