Synthesis process and performance analysis of benzodithiophene-based chlorinatedpolymerdonormaterials

Abstract: [Purposes] The eficient conversion and utilization of solar energy,as a green and sustainable energy source,is a core approach to addressing the global energy crisis.This research aims to address the low eficiency issue of organic solar cells(OSCs), Designed and synthesized a new chlorinated polymer donor material BDT-T-Cl,to improve photoelectric conversion efficiency.[Methods] this study designed and synthesized a new chlorinated polymer donor material, BDT-T-Cl. By introducing chlorine atoms to regulate the molecular energy levels and aggregation behavior,the material's optoelectronic properties were significantly improved.[Findings] Structural characterization and optoelectronic performance tests showed that BDT-T-Cl exhibits broad absorption in the range of 362~568 nm. The absorption of the thin film state is red-shifted by 6~18 nm,and the intermolecular π-π stacking is enhanced.This synergistic effect promotes self-aggregation or ordered arrangement in the solid state.The HOMO energy level is lowered to -5.46eV ,resulting in a relatively high open-circuit voltage when BDT-T-Cl is used as the donor material in photovoltaic devices.[Conclusions] This study provides a new candidate material for high-eficiency OSCs by synthesizing the novel chlorinated polymer donor material BDT-T-Cl Keywords: organic solar cells; donor material; benzodithiophene; chlorine substitution; polymer
