Correlation between Serum GH,IGF-1and Trace Elements and Physical Development Indicators in Children with Short Stature/HUANG Jie,ZHUYougen,YILi.//Medical InnovationofChina,2025,22(19): 158-161

[Abstract]Objective: To explore the corelations between serum growth hormone (GH), insulin-like growth factor-1(IGF-1)and trace elements and physical development indicators in children with short stature.Method:A total of 128children with short stature admited to from January 2O21 to December 2023 were selected as the observation group, and another 5O healthy children who underwent physical examinations during the same period were selected as the control group. The levels of GH,IGF-1,blood trace elements (calcium, magnesium, zinc, vitamin D)andphysical development indicators (height, weight,BMI,leptin, osteocalcin)of the two groups were compared.Pearson correlation coefcient analysis was used to explore the correlations between the levels of GHand IGF-1 inchildren with short stature and trace elements as well as physical development indicators. Result:The levels of serum calcium, magnesium, zinc, vitamin D,GHand IGF-1 in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group ( P <0.05).The height, weight,BMI,levelsof leptinand osteocalcin in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group ( P <0.05).Pearson correlation analysis showed that GHand IGF-1levels were positively correlated with serum calcium, magnesium, zinc, vitamin D,height, weight,BMI,leptin, and osteocalcin( P <0.05).Conclusion:Blood trace elements are closely related to thelevels ofGHand IGF-1,and havean important influenceon the growth anddevelopmentofchildren with short stature.Increasing the levels oftrace elements may help improve the growthand development status ofchildren with short stature, providing a reference basis for clinical intervention.
