Abstract:The Hainan mantle plume hasbenincreasinglysubstantiated bygeophysicaland geochemicaldata.Inadditiontodriving large-scalmagmaticactivitytheHainanmantleplumehassignificantimplicationsforresourceandenvironmentalefectsclosely relatedtocarbonneutrality.Theseefectsareprimarilymanifestedintheformof geothermalcleanenergycontributingtocarbon reduction,aswellasnaturalandengineeredcarbonsquestrationthroughbsaltcarbonationTispaper’sesearchsosthat: (1)TheextensivemagmaticactivitytrigeredbytheHainanmantleplumehasmaitainedarelativelyhighgeothealbackgroundinthe Leiqiongvolcanicregion.Thecombnatioofbasaltandsuitablegeologicaltructureshasledtotheformationofpronouncdgeothemal anomalies intheFushansag within thebasaltdistributionarea andbeneath thesedimentaryrocksmakingitafavorabletarget fordry hot rock exploration.Successful drilling of two dryhot rock wels has been achieved at approximately 5000m depth(Huadong1Rwell reaching a temperature of 185‰ at 4387m depth; Fushen-1 well reaching a temperature of 188.71°C at 5200m depth). (2) The activity oftheHaianmantleplumehasresultedinthefomationofextesivebasalticfrmationsintenorteHaianrgion,withource characteristicssimilartoteColumbiabasaltofteWallaprojectintheUnitedStates.Tebasaltisicincalcum,magnesimn iron,andhasrelativelywel-evelopedporosity.Preliminaryestimatessuggestthatthetheoreticalcapacityfor CO2 mineral sequestration in the northern Hainan region ranges from 2.0 to 48.5Gt ,indicating significant potential for CO2 mineral storage.(3) Favorable basaltic geologicalconditions notonlymake itpossblefortheLeiqiongregiontotaketheleadinestablishingthefirst in-situbasalt CO2 mineralsequestrationprojectinChina,butalsooldpromiseforthedevelopmentofalow-carbonindustrialchaincenteredoncarbo sequestration, while simultaneously producing high value-added products such as soluble potash and hydrogen.
