Abstract：XiaolagdieseirisaniportantstrateicproectforfloodontrolndscuritinlowerachsofteYeloivere reservoirasbeenputintooperationmorethan2Oyears，greatchangeshavetakenplaceinthewaterandsedimentsituationof heYelow River，thflood-cargcapacityoftlowerachs’ivebd，tesintdepositioinhsevindefodotrolsiationi thefloodplainareasInparticular，thestrateyofcologicalprotectioandigqualitydvelopmentofteYelowRiverBasinandtep ple-orienteddevelopmentconcepthavebeepromoted.Newrequirementsareputforardforflodcontrolsecurityinthebeachareaof the lowerYellowRiverAtpreset，XaolangdiResevoirisintlatestageofdimentcontainment，ndthefloodcontrolstorageapaityf thereservoirislarerantsig，soitispossbletouetesuplusfodcotrolstoragecapacityforfodcotrolndachrotetio TheresearchshowsthatunderthepremiseofensuringtheflodcontrolsafetyofXiaolangdireservoir，theupperleveloffloodcotoland beachprotectiooeratioofthersevoiris58.8inteprfloodseasoad9.5intostfodsasonasedotctossuch asfloodtransportcapacityundationeectofeachareaandthangeofiverflatf，tedwstreaproteiofwis40 m3/s .Throughthecalulationofdiferentcombinationsofsmallandmediumfloodregulation，theXiaolangdiResevoircanesureatthe dowstreamoffodillotoveoeearsinedsodosfodilotoveoe yearinhepostfloodseason.AcodingtotemeasuredsedimentlveloftheYellowRiversince2Ooo，themathematicalmodelpredicts thatXiaolangdiReservoircanmaintaintecurrntbeachprotectionstandardforabout1OyeasInviewofthelaggngsafetycostructionof thelowerYelowRivereachaitissugestedtodepnandrefinethaplicationplanofXiaolangdiResevoirfoodconoldbach protection，andclarifheplicatioti，watervelandratoodefsevoiachprotectio，sostrovidetchcalo for flood control decision-making in the middle and lower reaches.
