Transmission line insulator multi-defect detection method based on multi-scale feature

Abstract:Inviewofthelowdetectionaccuracyandpoordetectioneffect due tothecharacteristicsofsmall sizeand complexbackgroundofmulti-defectsintransmissionlineinsulators,aninsulatormulti-defectdetectionalgorithmbasedon improvedYOLOisproposed.Firstly,theFasterNetisintroducedtoreplacetheoriginalbackbonenetworktoreducethe computation burdenof model.Andthen,intermsoffeatureextraction,thescalesequencefeature fusing(SSFF)moduleis introducedtocombinethehigh-levelinformationofthedeepfeaturemapwiththedetailedinformationoftheshallwfeature map,fullyintegratethemulti-scalefeatures,andimprovethedistinctionofdiferentdefectsofteinsulator.Finallyatriple featureencoding(TFE)moduleisintroducedtobetercapturethedetailsofsmallobjectsandenhancetherecognitionof overlappedobjectsandsmallobjects.Thealgorithmcandetectthedefectsofnormalinsulators,breakage,self-explosionand flashoverontransmisionlines.Experimentalresultsshowthatthemeanaverageaccuracy(mAP@0.5)of thealgorithmis increasedby3.9%incomparisonwiththatof thebaselinealgorithm,itsaccuracyrateofsmallobjectdetectionofdamageand flashoverisincreasedby8.4%and7.9%,respectivelyandbothitsnumberofparametersandfloating-pointoperationsare reduced by 20% ,which improves the identificationof diffrent insulatordefects while meeting the lightweight requirements.The algorithm has practical guidance for the practical application of insulator multi-defect detection.
