Abstract：Thecontentofheavy metalsinsurfacesedimentsinthedumpingareaofShacheng harborwasanalyzed.Thecontentsof Hg ，As，Cu，Pb，Cd，Cr，Zn，sulphideandorganiccarbonal metthequalitystandardofthefirstkindofmarinesediments.Principalcomponentanalysisshowsthatthedistributionofheavymetalsinsurfacesedimentsinthedumpingareaof Shachengportisgreatlyafectedbytheexternaldumping.Thepotentialecologicalriskindex methodwasusedtoases theecologicalrisk.Theresultsshowedthatthedumpingareaof ShachengharborwaspolutedbyCdtoacertainextent，andtheCdcontentintheinvestigated areahadreachedthemoderateharmdegre.Theresultsofthisstudyprovideabasisforthescientificdecision-makingofthemanagementdepartmentsinthedumpingareaofShachengport.
