Clinical efficacy of catgut-embedding therapy in SUN's abdominal acupuncture zone combined with rTMS stimulation in treating mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease

[Abstract]Objective Toobserve theclinical eficacyofSUN'sabdominal acupuncture zone pointcatgut-embedding therapy combinedwithrepetitivetranscranialmagneticstimulation(rTMS)intreatingmildtomoderateAlzheimersdisease(AD).Methods Atotalof6OpatientswithmildtomoderateADwhovisitedtheacupunctureoutpatientclinicoftheSecondAfiliatedHospitalof Heilongjiang UniversityofChineseMedicinefromApril2O23toMay2O24wererandomlydividedintoanobservationgroup (n=30) and a control group ( n =30).Both groupsreceived oral donepezil hydrochloride as the basic treatment.The control group received rTMS,whiletheobservationgroupreceivedaditionalcatgut-embedingtherapyasacupointsinSUN'sabdominalacupuncture Zone.Theacupointsselectedwere"Abdominalzone1"and"Abdominalzone8".Bothgroupsunderwent reatmentfor8weeks.The mini-mentalstateexaminon(MMSE),Montrealcognitiveassessmentscale(MoCA),andactivitiesofdailylivingcale(ADLsors werecomparedbetweenthetwogroupsbeforeandaftertreatmenttoevaluatetheclinicaleficacyandadversereactionsof both groups.Results Comparedwiththepre-treatmentstate,the MMSE,MoCA,andADLscores inbothgroupsincreasedaftertreatment L P <0.01),with the observation group showing higher scores than the control group ( P <0.05).The overall clinical efficacy rate in the observation group (86.67% )washigher than that in thecontrol group( 76.67% ( P- <0.05).No adverse reactionswere observedin either groupduring treatment ConclusionSUN'sabdominalacupuncturezone threadembeddingcombined withrTMScan ffectively improve cognitive function and daily living abilityin patients with mild to moderate AD.
