Spatial distribution characteristics and driving factors of traditional villages in Hubei Province based on spatial statistical methods

Abstract：TissudyinvestigatedtetraditionalvilagesinHubeiProvincefrom212tO23，utilingsatialstatisticalmetdincludingthenearestneighborindexandkereldensitynalsis，combiedwithfactordetectionandinteractionanalyssofageodete tor，toexploretespatialdistribtioncaracteristicsnddingfactorsfromfourdimensions：spatialpattn，aturalelemnts，o nomicfoundation，andhistoricalculture.Theresultsshowedthatthetraditionalvilagesin HubeiProvince exhibiteda"threprimary andonesecondary"spatialpatern，withthecoreareaslocatedinEnshiTujiaand MiaoAutonomous Prefecture insouthwesternHubei，Huangang-Xiaoganinnortheastern Hubei，andHuangshi-Xianinginsoutheastern Hubei，whileYichang-XiangyanginwesternHubeiwasaddedasasub-coreareainthesixthbatchLowaltitude，gentleslopes，andproximitytoriverswereidentfedasthe main natural factors influencing the distribution characteristics of traditional villages.Over 80% of the traditional villageswere located within 20 km（approximately 30 minutes’drive）of expressways，and over 80% were within 64km （approximately90 minutes’drive） of passengerrailwaystations.MostraditionalVillageseresituatedinareaswithmediumpopulationdensityandhadconomiclevels belowtheprovicialaverage.Thedistributioncharacteristicsoftaditionalvilagesshowedamismatchwiththdistributionofprovincial-levelandaboeintangibleculturaleritageitesndteirepresentativebearers，utaligedellwithtedstributionofovincial-levelandaboveculturalelicsprotetionunits.Thespatialdistributioncharacteristicsoftraditionalvilagesresultedfromthe long-termcobindectsfaturalocialooic，ndstorical-uluralfctors，ithstoicaluralandoc tors generally playing stronger roles.
