Investigation of theantioxidantand lipid-lowering activitiesof lotus alkaloidsand their antibacterial propertiesagainstplant pathogens

Abstract:Asystematicomparatiestudywasconductedtoivesigatetheompositioaldiferencesofalkalodsinlotuslavadlo tusplumules,alongwiththeirespectiveantioxidant,lipid-lowering,andantibacterialproperties.Theanalysisrevealedadistinct compositionalprofile:Alkaloidsinlotusleaveswerepredominantlyoftheaporphine-type,ithnuciferine(otusleafalkaloid)being themostabundant,whilebisbenzylisoquinolinealkaloidswerepredominantinlotusplumules,withnferine(metyllotuspluulealkaloid)havingteighstcontent.Functioall,etotalalkaloidfromlotuslavsebitedsuperiorantioxdantandlipd-lwering activities,demonstratingstrongerDPPHradicalsavengingcapacityandpancreaticlipaseinhibitionbothinaconcentrationdependentmannercomparedtotetotalalkaloidsfromplumule.Inantibacterialassys,theleafalkaloidsalsoshowedmorepotentandsus tainedeiccyinstedomoassngevomto,oondlerriabiStabilityessmnts,weedted thattheantibacterialactivityoftelafalkalodsassusceptibletoighemperatures,inonrasttoehigherteralabilityobserved for the plumule alkaloids.Furthermore,the presence of metal ions ( Ca2+ and Mg2+ )significantly suppressed the antibacterial activity of both alkaloid types,witha more pronounced inhibitory effectonthealkaloids derivedfrom lotus plumules.
