Abstract Objective: To sinicize Questionnaire for Eating-Related Distress among Patients with Advanced Cancer(QERD) and to test its reliability and validity. Methods: The Brislin model was used to translate the QERD. And the final Chinese version of QERD was formed through cultural adjustment and pre-investigation. A total of 229 patients with advanced cancer admitted to the cancer nutrition and metabolic therapy department of a tertiary grade A hospital were select as research subjects by convenience sampling method from September 2,2021,to November 23,2022,to test reliability and validity of the Chinese version of scale. Results:The Chinese version of QERD included three dimensions(distress originating from the feelings of patients themselves, distress originating from the relationship between patients and their families, and distress originating from concerns regarding information about the patient's diet), with a total of 12 items. The item⁃level content validity index of the scale ranged frm 0.833 to 1.000.And the scale⁃level⁃content validity index/universal agreement was 0.972.After exploratory factor analysis, three common factors were extracted, with a cumulative variance contribution rate of 71.134% . Confirmatory factor analysis suggested that the modified model fits well. The Spearman correlation coefficient between the total score of the Chinese version of QERD and the score of symptom section reported subjectively by patients in the subjective comprehensive assessment of patient participation was 0.658 P<0.001 ).The Cronbach's α coefficient of the overall scale was 0.880. And the split ⁃ half reliability was 0.760.Conclusions:The Chinese version of QERD has good reliability and validity. It can provide a reliable tool for evaluating eating⁃related distress in hospitalized patients with advanced cancer .
