IStrengthening Food Safety Regulations for Pre-made Dishes in China: lessons from Japan's Food Safety Governance

Abstract

Inrecent years,China’spre-made dish industryhas enteredaphase of rapid development,becoming an emerging trendinthefoodsector.However,alongsideitsrapidgrowth,foodsafetyconcernsrelatedtopremade dishes have drawn widespread publicattention.This paper begins byanalyzing the reasons behind the rapidexpansion of China’spre-made dish industry,summarizes the mainchallenges incurrent food safety regulations,and examines broader trends in the industry’sdevelopmentand regulatory framework,using Japan,a more mature market,asa reference.Through a review of extensive literature on Japan’s food safety governance,the study outlines key Japanese practices in this field.Basedon China’sactual conditions,itthen proposes recommendations for enhancing food safetyregulations for pre-made dishes.
