AbstractThis article introduces the growth characteristicsof the Celtis sinensis tree and the varieties suitable for making bonsai.Itfocuses onelaborating the bonsai making methodssuchasbending themain stem，bending the branches，pruning the top plate，and formingatop with multiple branches，as wellas management measures such as repotting，diseaseandpestcontrol，ertiliation，udremoval，andaluminumwreremoal.Celtissinensis，adoted deciduous treeof thegenus Celtis inthe Ulmaceaefamily，hastheadvantagesof strong sproutingability，tolerance to pruning，and toleranceto smoke and dust.It is anexcellent materialfor making bonsai andcanbe used to create various typesof bonsai such as straight-trunk，slanting-trunk，andcurved-trunk.The varieties of Celtis sinensis suitable for making bonsai mainly include Celtis julianae，Celtis koraiensis，Celtisbungeana，and Celtis tetrandra.Intermsofbonsai making，the seedlings of the Celtis sinensis cultivated in the current year should be planted in pots at a 45∘ angle in the spring ofthefolowing year.Bythe winterof the third year，thefirst-level branches need tobe prunedand shaped，and thesecond-levelbranchesneed tobe prunedand bent，withbendingand toppruning done.Inthelateautumnof the fourthyear，carryouttheselectionand pruningof the third-level branches，adjustthetrendof thesecond-level branches，and pruneand fix the branches that have sprouted from the third-level branches basedon the principles of removing the strong and retaining the weak.Retain the chicken claw branchesthrough re-pruning.In terms of bonsai management，the best timefor repotting bonsai is from late October toearly March of the following year in autumn. Repoting should bedone once every1to2years.Pest and disease controlcanbe cariedoutbyusing agricultural control methods （suchasstrengthening fertilizerand water management），physicalcontrolmethods （suchas stabbing the insect body with bambo sticks），andchemicalcontrol methods （such asspraying cypermethrin）.The amountoffertilizer shouldbe strictly controlled.Budremoval shouldbecariedout in batches.Aftertheshapeof the branches and trunks stabilizes，thealuminum wires should beremovedasneeded.Thisarticle providesareference forthe promotionof the techniques of production and management Celtis sinensis bonsai.
