AbstractThe research progress on abiotic stress resistance in Onobrychis vicifolia was systematically reviewed, and its potential applications were prospected.Under drought stress,moisture balance was maintained and oxidative damage was mitigated through theregulation of genes related todehydrin synthesis and antioxidant enzymes,as wellas lipid and carbohydrate metabolism pathways.Under cold stress,cold resistance was enhanced bythe accumulation of protective substances such as proline and the activation of the antioxidant system.Under saline-alkali stress,ion homeostasis wasmaintained primarily through theregulation of ion uptakeand transport andtheenhancementof antioxidant enzymeactivities.Underheavymetal stresstoxicitywasalleviatedbychanges inthecontentof osmotic adjustment substances and enzyme activities.Future studies should deeply integrate multi-omics technologies to identifykey stress resistance genes,andgeneticallyengineernew Onobrychisvicifolia varieties with high stress resistance,,while expanding their applications in stressagriculture andsoil ecological remediation.This review provides references for leveraging Onobrychis vicifolia to promote sustainable development in agriculture and animal husbandry.
