Abstract:The Inspector and the Hero writen by Nigerian playwright Femi Osofisan is a realistic drama about ethics.The absurd society,in which one’s survival based on pillage and murder provides the drama with an ethical arena.With diferent characters’opposite choices of being loyal to or violating their ethical identities,various evils plaguing Nigerian society are truly reproduced. The confrontation and contention between the characters in the drama turns into the ethical appeal of the underprivileged people for fairness and justice in reality,which not only expresses the playwright’s deep ethical concern,but also endows the drama with unique ethical implications,profoundly reflecting the close connection and interaction between dramatic literature and social ethics,so that encouraging people to re-examine and ponder on the importance of adherence to social norms in building and promoting social trust.
