Abstract:This paper briefly introduces theapplication status of lightweight materials for rail vehicles,and designs two side wallstructures made of aluminum alloy and carbon fiber composite materials,respectively. In addition,the side wallstructuresof two different materialsare simulated and compared,and the side wall test pieces of carbon fiber composite materials are tested and verified.The results demonstrate thatthe carbon fiber composite side wallcan meet the requirements of a high airtight load with a weight reduction of 21.4% . Due to the anisotropyof carbon fiber composite and the test method,there is a deviation between the simulation results and the test results of carbon fiber composite.A large number of tests are required to modify the simulation model.
