Study on Measures to Handle the Abnormal Wear of Pantograph and Catenary in Urban Rail Transit

Abstract:Pantograph and catenary are key equipments that have efect on the safe running of urban rail trains.The abnormal wear of pantograph and catenary may greatly increase the repair cost and the maintenance workload,even directly affecting theoperation of the rail transit in severe cases,therefore the study on the control of abnormal wear of pantograph and catenary is of great significance.During the trial operation on Zhengzhou-Xuchang line of Zhengzhou Metro,the pantograph and catenary presented abnormal wear. The causes for the abnormal wear of pantograph and catenary were analyzed.The specialists in rolling stock and catenary were organized to inspect and analyze the devices in their specialties,mainly inspecting the consistence of the parameters of pantograph with the design parameters,the causes for the eccentric wear of thecarbon contact stripand the deviation of the measured values of the parameters of catenary(height of conductor,pullout value)from the design values,and other relevant specialties colaborated to jointly inspect and analyze the running environment of the metro trains. Through the comparison and analysis of a great number of data and the inspection of devices,the causes for abnormal wear of pantograph and catenary on Zhengzhou-Xuchang line were found out and the measures such as precisely polishing the carbon contact strip and“recovering”the pantograph-catenary friction pair were formulated,which has greatly reduced the wear control cost.As the abnormal wear often happens with abnormal operation indices of pantograph and catenary, the monitoring and prevention of the abnormal wear of pantograph and catenary have been completed by monitoring the operation parameters,and the preventive measures have been formulated in four aspects of human,material,environment and management to prevent the abnormal wear of pantograph and catenary.
