How Digital Transformation Shapes New Quality Productive Forces： An Empirical Study Based on Corporate Life Cycle and Ambidextrous Innovation Mechanism

Abstract： Cultivating and developing new quality productive forces drive the high-quality economic development. Using data from China's A-share-listed companies from 2015 to 2023， this study examines the impact of digital transformation on new quality productive forces from the perspective of the corporate lifecycle.It analyzes the mediating role of ambidextrous innovation.The findings indicate that digital transformation significantly enhances new quality productive forces during the growth，maturity，and decline stages，with its promoting effect showing a U-shaped relationship—initially decreasing before increasing—as the life cycle evolves.Mechanism tests reveal that digital transformation boosts new quality productive forces by facilitating both exploratory and exploitative innovation，with exploitative innovation exerting a stronger short-term effect， while exploratory innovation focuses more on fostering long-term dynamic capabilities. Heterogeneity analysis further shows that the enhancing effect of digital transformation on new quality productive forces is more pronounced in state-owned enterprises and those in the eastern region.
