Biochemical Diversity Analysis of Ancient Tea Germplasms in Lincang

Abstract: In order to rationallyutilize the ancient tea resources in Lincang and promote the better development of the local tea industry,the main biochemical components of 176 ancient tea germplasm resources from Lincang wereanalyzedand evaluated.The results show that the biochemical components ofthese resources exhibited wide variation and rich genetic diversity, with an average coefficient of variation (CV) of 48.53% and an average genetic diversity index (H)of 1.89.Principal component analysis (PCA)reveals that the first four principal components (cumulative contribution rate: 77.7% )captured most of the information from the main biochemical indices,with esterified catechins making the greatest contribution.Cluster analysis classified the 176 resources into four groups. Group Iexhibited low Ccontent and non-esterified catechin levels; Group II had very low GA content,relatively high C content,and low levels of ECG and esterified catechins; Group II showed very high EGC content,along with elevated levels of non-esterified catechins and totalcatechin content; Group IV demonstrated high levels of caffeine and EC content.A set of superior germplasm resources with high levels of water extract,tea polyphenols, amino acids, catechins,and caffeine were preliminarily screened.
