Abstract:Seismic experiencehasshownthatunderground shaft structuresare subjected toseismic threatsandsevere examplesof damage have occurrd.Inorder toobtainthe seismic responseof the shaft,the‘beam-spring’modelwas used toestablishasys temanalysismodelforthedynamicinteractionbetweenthearge-diametershaftandthesoilbasedonthePasterakfoundationand theTimoshenkobeam theory.Onthebasisofconsideringthenormalearth presureofsitesoillayerandshaftstructure,thetangen tialshearforceofsitesoillayerandshaftstructureisfurtherconsidered.Theanalyticalsolutioofseismicresponseoflargediame tershaftunderhorizontalearthquake wasstudied.Thepeak seismicresponseoftheshaft along thedepthdirectionisanalyzed from theaspectsoftheratioofthelengthtodiameteroftheshaft,theratiooftheinerandouterdiameters,theratiooftheelasticmodu lusoftheshaftothesiteandtheboundaryconditionsatthebotomoftheshaft.Theresultsshowthatthedecreaseoftheratioof thelengthtodiameteoftheshaftwilleadtotheincreaseofthepeakresponseoftheintealforceofteshaftalongthedepthdirection.Theincreaseoftheinnerandouterdiameterratiooftheshaftwillrducethepeak interalforceresponseoftheshaftalong thedepthdirection.Withtheincreaseoftheratiooftheelasticmodulusoftheshafttothesite,thepeakresponseofthenternal forceoftheshaftalongthedepthdirectionwillgraduallyincrease.Thedisplacementresponseofthesaftundertheelasticsoilfoun dationislargerthanthatoftherock-socketed foundation.Theshearresponseundertheocksocketedfoundationalongthedepthdi rectionoftheshaftissignfcantlylargerthanthatoftheelasticsoilfoundation,andthebending momentpeakresposeofherock socketed shaft at the bottom position is larger.
