Modeling of dual-impulses phenomenon of incipient spalled outerraceball bearing

Abstract:Analysis of theinstantaneous angular speed(IAS)has beenproven to efectivelydetect bearing faults.To investigate thegeneration mechanismofIASsignaldouble-impulses phenomenon inballbearings,adynamic model isproposedinthis paper basedonthecouplingcharacteristicsbetwentheormal,tangentialforcesandthetimevaryingimpactexcitation,inwhichtheinfluencesoftherollngresistanceandthesharpedgesoflocaldefectonthedynamicbehaviorareconsidered.Inthismodel,theelas ticquarterspace methodisadoptedtocalculatetheadditionaldeformationinducedbythelocalspalededgesanditscorresponding time-varyingdisplacementexcitationmodelisdeduced.Aditioalcontactforcesandtievaryingdisplacementexcitatiosarecon sideredwhensteelballenterintoandexitfromthedefect.Thedisturbancesofnormalandtangentialforcesinthebearingunder sharpedgeexcitationsoflocalfaultarestudied,andthetimevaryingtangentialforceexcitationmodelisalsodeduced.Thenolin eardynamicequationsets aresolved using the Runge-Kutanumerical integration method.Comparisons between thesimulationre sultsandtheactual measuredresultsofouterracelocalfaultbearingsshowtheestablished dynamic modelcanefectivelyrevealthe mechanism of double-impulses phenomenon based on IAS signals.
