Controller design and vibration characteristics of an active magnetic bearings-flexible rotor system passing the first bending critical speed region

Abstract:Activemagnetic bearings(AMBs)areideal bearingsforhighspeedand high powerrotating machineryforitsadjustable stfessanddamp.Inthis paper,adynamic modelofAMBs-flexible rotorsystem is established.Aimingatsuppressngvibration displacementoftherotorsysteminpasingthroughthefirstbendingcriticalspedregionacontrolwhichcombiesadecetralized PIDcontrolleandiputsecondfilterinseries isdesignedandthecontrollrperformances aresimulated.The experiments insimulatedrotationandrealaccelerationoperationsarecarredoutinaplatformofAMBs-flexiblerotorsystem.Therotorsystemcan smoothly passthrough itsfrstbendingcriticalspeedregionandte maximumrotorvibrationdisplacementinacelerationperation islessthanhalfofbackupbearinggap.Therotorvibrationdisplacementandcurrentresponsesoftherotorindiferentunbalances aremeasured inordertoanalysestheinfluenceof therotorunbalanceonvibrationcharacteristicsofAMBs-flexiblerotorsystem.It is shownthattheproposedcontrolercanmaketherotorsystemsmoothlypassthroughitsfirstbendingcricalspeedregion.The rotor imbalance hasasignificantly influenceonthecontrolperformanceandstabiltyofAMBs-flexiblerotorsystem.Theexperi ment results give a support on the high-performance control strategy of AMBs-flexible rotor system.
