Abstract： The high-quality development of school physical education serves as acrucial strategic pillar forbuilding China into a leading educational，sporting，and healthy nation. This studysystematically examines the historical rootsand contemporary demands of advancing school physical education through three dimensions including historical logic （tracingitsevolutionacrossfoundational，developmental，and quality-enhancementphases）， theoretical logic （documenting conceptual shiftsfrom militarized andbiological approaches to joyful， health-oriented，and wel-being-focused paradigms），and practical logic （constructinganeducational framework guided by objectives，supported by pathways，and reinforced bysafeguards）.Based on those mentioned above and through dialectical analysis，theresearch prospectivelydiscussesseveral keychalenges inthehigh-quality development of school physical education including balancing visionary goals with practical constraints， coordinatingmulti-stakeholderinterests，integrating technological empowerment with humanisticvalues，and unifying short-term breakthroughs with long-term development.And these findingsalso provide both theoretical foundations and practicable approaches for achieving a higher qualityand more eficient，equitable，and sustainable development of school physical education in the new era.
