Comparative Experimental Study on Quercus nuttallii and Quercus palustris in Linyi Shandong Province

AbstractThe Quercus palustris has been introduced and cultivated inLinyi area for many years，with strong adaptability anda wide range of suitable habitats，and is one of the excellnt tree species in Shandong Province. Quercus nuttaliis an excellent autumn leaf tree species introduced and cultivated in recent years， and its botanical and biological characteristicsare most similar to those of Quercus palustris.This experiment used Quercus palustris as the reference tree species，and conducted multiple comparisons and analysis evaluations based on plant growth indicators and leaf characteristics.The phenological period was observed and recorded locally，and five stress resistance indicators，including drought resistance，flood resistance，cold resistance，high temperature resistance，and disease and pest resistance，were compared and evaluated.The experimental results showed that the growth rate of Quercus nutalliiwas faster，and the growth of tree height，breast height diameter，and crown width was better than that of Quercus palustris; Quercus palustris has larger leaves and higher chlorophyll content; Thereare certain diferences between the two during the stages of germination，leaf expansion，flowering，leaf discoloration，and leaf shedding; Quercus palustris has strong cold resistance and outstanding high temperature tolerance，while Quercus nata has slightly better drought resistance.Both have comparable resistance to pests and diseases.
