Study on Surface Soil Properties of Japanese Larch Plantation at Different Developmental Stages in Eastern Mountainous Region of Liaoning Province

AbstractThe nutrient content and enzyme activity of the surface soil of Japanese larch plantations at diferent development stages in the eastern mountainous of Liaoning province were measured,and the changes of soil qualityat different developmental stages ofthe plantations were analyzed to provide support forthe long-term productivity maintenance of the plantations.The research results showed that the soil nutrient elements and enzyme activities exhibit the "V"shape change with increasing plantations age, decreasing to the lowest level in the middle aged and near-mature forest stage,the mature forest stage gradually recovered.This indicates that there was a certain degreeof soil degradation in Japanese larch plantations with the stand grows and develops.However,extending the rotation period and implementing reasonable thinning measures can help restore the soil fertility of Japanese larch plantations.
