Research on the conservation and inheritance strategies of the Xiaowu fish weir intangible cultural heritage from the perspective of cultural ecology*

Abstract：To address the challnges in inheriting and preserving the intangible cultural heritage （ICH） technique of the XiaoWu fish weir in contemporary times，this study takes the XiaoWu fish weir as its research subject. Employing field research methods and integrating cultural ecology theory，the study investigates strategies for the conservation and transmission of the XiaoWu fish weir. The investigation reveals that the fish weir technique faces issues such as the aging of inheritors，high annual maintenance costs，ecological deterioration，and the impact of relevant policies，all of which contribute to the risk of its discontinuing. Based on the field data and cultural ecology theory，strategies for the protection and inheritance of the XiaoWu fish weir ICH in Heyuan are proposed. This study aims to provide theoretical insights and practical pathways for the sustainable conservation and transmission of regional intangible cultural heritage，while also offering references for the preservation and development of similar ICH projects.
