The effect of background color on the growth and feeding of Sebastes schlegelii juveniles

Abstract：To investigate the effects of different background colorson the growth and feeding performance of Sebastes schlegelii juveniles and provide a scientific basis for environmental optimization in industrialized aquaculture，a rearing experiment was conducted. Five experimental groups with diferent background colors （red，green，blue，white and black）were designed.After 28 days of rearing under the different background colors，measurements were taken for feed intake，final body length，final body weight，specific growth rate，weight gain rate and body length growth rate of the juveniles. The results showed that after 28 days，no significant differences were observed in the weight rate and specific growth rate among the groups （ P>0.05） . However，the feed intake in the green and white background groups was 51.1g±7.78g and 59.4g±15.7g ，respectively，which was significantly higher than that in the red （30.6g±18.7g） ，blue （33.0g±15.3g） ，and black （35.1g±3.44g） 2 background groups （ P<0.05） .This indicates that background color has no significant impact on the growth of Sebastes schlegelii juvenile， but green and white backgrounds are conducive to increasing their feed intake.
