Application of Magnesium-Loaded Modified Chitosan in Nitrogen and PhosphorusWastewater Treatment

Abstract: [Purposes] Magnesium-loaded modified chitosan (Mg-CS)was prepared by magnesium ion coordination modification using chitosanas raw material,and its application performance in nitrogen and phosphorus wastewater treatment was investigated.[Methods]FT-IR,XRD,SEM,XPSandother methods were used to characterize the materials,and the effects of pH value,contact time,temperature and other factors on the adsorption of phosphate and ammonium ions were analyzed.[Findings] The results showed that under optimal conditions,the maximum adsorption capacities of Mg-CS for phosphate and ammonium ions reached 68.7 mg/g (pH=4.5) and 42.3 mg/g (pH=7.5), respectively.Allefluent indicators after treatment met the Class A discharge standards.[Conclusions] This material shows promising application prospects for the treatment of nitrogen and phosphorus wastewater.
