The Optimization of Sealing Performance for Mating Surfaces in HighPressure Gear Pumps

Abstract: [Purposes] This paper aims to addressthe issue of oil leakage at the mating surfaces of highpressure gear pumps in field applications, improve the sealing performance of the high-pressure gear pump mating surfaces,ensure their reliable operation,and provide effctive solutions for related engineering applications.[Methods] Aiming at the leakage failure at the mating surface,this paper employs the Fault Tree Analysis (FTA)tool to identify the causes of the problem.Based on this analysis,a comprehensive and in-depth theoretical study of the influencing factors is conducted,and anaccurate physical model is established.The ANSYS software is used to simulate the deformation of the sealing end cover under actual working conditions,analyzing the impact of various factors on the sealing performance.Optimization tests are then conducted forvalidation.[Fingings] The study identifies the deformation of the sealing end cover,the compressionrate of the sealing ring,and the screw fastening method of the mating surface's sealing structure as the key factors affecting the sealing performance.By optimizing the design of the sealing structure and precisely controlling the compression rate of the sealing ring within the range of 18.1% to 27.5% ,the sealing performance has been significantly improved; the part strength has been enhanced,increasing structural stability;the diagonal/gradual tightening method forscrew fastening has effectively reduced the leakage risk at the mating surface.[Conclusions]The leakage issue at the mating surface of the high-pressure gear pump has been successfully resolved,significantly improving its sealing performance and ensuring stable,reliable operation.The research findings provide valuable guidance for the design optimization and practical application of high-pressure gears.
