Abstract: This paper analyzes the principles of ship electrical systems, signal cable specifications, and connection methods.Basedon the spatial arrangement characteristicsof equipment within the system,three typical signal cable connection types are summarized: centralized, zoned,and sequential distributed.Corresponding to these types,three optimization methods for signal cable design length are proposed: interface integration method, convergence method,and series connection method.These methods wereapplied to the detailed design of a series of actual bulk carriers projects,which shortened the signal cable design length by 13% to 21% respectively. The optimization effect is significant, effectively reducing the cable procurement and installation cost.
