Abstract: New materials and optimized structural forms are two main approaches to lightweight hullstructures. Taking a short-sea ro-pax ship project as an example,this paper analyzes the design and construction challnges in the substitution applicationof aluminum alloy stiffned panels in ships.Structural design optimization, weight reduction,andconstructionefciencyimprovementareachieved,leading toasignificantreduction incomprehensive construction costs and production cycles.The application and structural optimization ideas and methods of aluminum alloy ribbed plates can provide references for the design and construction of aluminum alloy ships.
