AnAnalysisofDevelopment Patternsand GovernancePractices of Garrison Agriculture in Hexi Region during Yuan Dynasty

Abstract:The development of garisonagriculture in Hexi regionduring theYuan Dynasty had a profound impact on the regional socialeconomyand governance.The Yuan government stabilized the foundationof garison agriculture by pacifying displaced peopleand relocating militaryand civilian populations toenrich the laborforce.Basedon the garrson system，it implemented military migration to meet military needsand food suppy.Therefore，the development formof garrison agriculture gradually evolvedfrom"military-civlianmixed farming"to"military-civilianjointfarming"，promoting productioncollaboration and forming a multi-subject patrn of ethnic joint farming.Moreover，garrison agriculture affairs wereunder thejurisdictionof provincialadministrations，whichlaida solid foundationforthestabilityand development of Hexi region in the Yuan Dynasty.
