Abstract:This study examines regional poetryfrom the Tang tothe Ming-Qing periods centered on Jincheng(Lanzhou), focusing on four Tang-dynasty frontier poems and four Ming-Qing poems about Mount Wuquan.Through textual analysis, this paper investigates how poetry shaped Jincheng's cultural identity across eras. Tang frontier poems constructeda tragic narrativeof Jincheng as a military stronghold through symbols like“swords”and“Qiang flutes”,while Ming-Qing Wuquan poetry re-imagined it as a spiritual landscape using ecological and religious symbols such as“streams” and “ancient pagodas”. This literaryshift reflects Jincheng's spatial evolutionfroma“frontier garison under beacon fires”to a“sacredlandof springs”,driven bythedeclineof its militaryrolealong the Silk Roadand theculturalintegration facilitated by literary memory. The study proposes a“text-space interaction”framework, oferinganew paradigm forregional literary research in Northwest China.
