Breeding of a new carrot cultivar Chunhong No. 26

Abstract： ChunhongNo.26 is a F1 hybrid carrot，which was bred by crossing the male sterile line19458A as the female parentandthe high generation inbred line C19502 asthe male parent. Under the winter-spring smallach greenhouse cultivation model in Henan province，ithas a growth period of approximately104 days，with an early bolting rate of 0.17% ， exhibiting early maturityand bolting resistance.The plant has a semi-upright growth habit， gren leaves，and moderately lobed foliage.Thefleshyrootislongcylindricalshapewithabrightorangeskin，flesh，andcore.Singlerootmass is280 g， measuring about 22cm in length and 4.5cm in diameter. It contains 5.48% total soluble sugar content， 7.2μg⋅100g-1 2 total carotenoids content， and 8.24mg⋅kg-1 vitamin C content. The yield is 4200-4500kg per 667m2 .It is suitable for winter-spring season cultivation in arched greenhouses or summer-autumn season open-field planting in Henan province and similar ecological regions.
