ZHANJunhua',DUAN Zhenjiao',LIU Shiwei², TANGPing (1.Minqnuaeoega tryCodo Abstract:SanbaiNo.1watermelonisanewlow-sugar,high-qualityvarietydevelopedthroughsystematicimprovement ofalocallandrace in Minqin, Gansu province.This variety was obtained via thre years offive-generation selfing,purification,anddirectionalselectiontostabilizetraits.Underspringoen-fieldcultivationinMinqin,Gansu,itstotalgrowth period is104 days,with fruit development duration of 44 days.The plant exhibits vigorous growth,but vine vigor declinesafter seting fruit.The firstfemale floweroccurs atthe 6th-8th node,with subsequentfemaleflowers emerging every2nd-3rdnode,it iseasyforseting fruit.Thefruit is sub-rounded,withalight whiterindlacking stripesor wax powder. The rind thickness is 2.2cm ,characterized by moderate firmness and excellent storage potential. The milky white flesh is tender,juicy,and refreshing,ofering superior taste and aroma.Soluble solids content reaches 6.0% in the center and 4.8% at the edge,demonstrating a minimal sugar gradient between the core and periphery.Seeds are enclosed in white seed coats.Thevarietyshows moderate resistance to Fusarium wilt,cold tolerance,and susceptibility to waterlogging. Single fruit average mass is 1.6kg ,withayieldof approximately 3460kg per 667m2 .It issuitable for spring open-fieldcultivation insimilar comparable regions ofGansu,Innerongolia,Xinjiang,Shaanxi,andNingxia.
