Effects of biological-organic fertilizer on nutrient loss in different texture soils of cantaloupe

Abstract: Cantaloupe must ensure sufficient water supplyduring their growth processinordertodevelop normaly.However,inactualproduction,excessive watersupplyoftenleads todeepleakage,whichnotonlywastesresouresbutalso polutes groundwater.Tounderstandtheeffectsofapplying biological-organicfertilizer(BOF)onalleviating nutrietloss caused by irigation in soils withdiffrent textures,soluble BOFwasapplied to poted cantaloupe soils with textures of loam(S1),sand(S2),andclay(S3)uringiigation.Thedrymattermassandnirogen,posphorus,ndpotassumontentof plantsandfruitsafter maturitywere measured,aswellas tephysicochemical propertiesandnitrogen,phosphorus, andpotassiumontentofsoil,rogen,posporus,ndpotasiumcotentinleachate,ndthetentofderttr gen forms.The results showed that compared with no appicationof biofertilizer(CK),BOF treatment significantlyreduced the soil pH,total nitrogen, NO3- -N,total phosphorus,and total potassiumcontent of S1,S2,and S3; significantlyreduced soil conductivity,soil available potassum,soil available phosphorus,soil total nitrogen,soil NO3- -N,and cantaloupe fruit potassium content in S1 and S2; significantly increased the soil NH4+ -Ncontent ofS1,S2andS3;significantly increased the soil conductivity, soil available phosphorus, soil total nitrogen, soil NH4+ -N, soil NO3- -N, cantaloupe plant nitrogen,phosphorus,andpotassumcontent,cantaloupe fruititrogenandphosphoruscontent,ndcantaloupe totalnitro gen,phosphorus,and potassium contentin S3.Therefore,theapplicationofBOFcannotonly improve soilpHand soil conductivity, alleviate irrigation induced leakage of total nitrogen, NO3- -N,total phosphorus,and total potassiumin the soil; and itcanalsoplayaroleinimproving thedrymatter massofswee melon,soilnutrientcontent,andreducing soil nutrient leaching.
