AReview of theDevelopment ofIceand Snow Sports in Saudi Arabia from the Perspectiveof“Asian WinterGames MovingWestward”

Abstract：Inrecent years，Saudi Arabia has successively participated in the 2022 Olympic Winter Games and the 2025AsianWinterGames，and succesfullybidto hostthe1OthAsianWinter Games in2029，making theAsian WinterGames enter WestAsia forthefirsttime，which demonstrates itsdeterminationand confidence to become a majorsports country.Atpresent，Saudi Arabia isactivelycultivating iceandsnowathletes toparticipate inice and snow sports events，vigorouslybuilding iceand snow sports venues to enhance social participation in ice and snow activities，anddeveloping iceand snow tourismindustryto spread iceand snow sports culture.Iceandsnowsports in Saudi Arabiaare stillin the initial stage.Byanalyzing the natural geographical environment and social and culturalenvironment for thedevelopmentoficeand snow sports in Saudi Arabia，itis foundthatits development prospects have both various limitationsand certaindevelopment potential.Correspondingly，feasible measures such as strengthening strategic planningand layout，enhancing venueand facility construction，promoting the cultivationofice and snow talents，and increasing publicity and investment are sorted out.By deepening the popularizationand promotion of ice andsnow sports in Saudi Arabia，it willhelp Saudi Arabia accelerate the diversified transformationofits economic structureandachieve dual progressinculture and society under the light of the Asian Winter Games.
