The causes of obstacles in continuous planting of Cunninghamia lanceolata and their sustainablemanagementstrategies

AbstractTo address the issue of soil fertility decline causedbycontinuous planting of Cunninghamia lanceolata, the current situationofcontinuous plantingartificial forests of Cunninghamia lanceolataand thereasons forsoilfertility decline were analyzed,and preventionandsustainable businesstrategies fromaspects such as precise fertilization, implementation of crop rotation cultivation,creation of mixed forests,and strengthening of tending management were proposed.Multi-generation continuous plantingof Cunninghamia lanceolata trees can lead toadecline in forest productivity,deterioration ofsoil poreconditions,field water holding capacity,maximum water holdingcapacityand other water-holding properties,decreasing the activities of soil enzymes such as soil invertase,ureaseand protease,and the compositionand structureofsoil microbialcommunitieschange.Theimbalanceofsoil nutrientsupply inforestland, self-toxicityofCunninghamia lanceolata,the toxic efectof aluminum,and unreasonableaforestationmeasures are the mainreasons forthesoil fertilitydeclineofcontinuousplantedCunninghamia lanceolataplantations.Basedonthis,itis proposed to apply balanced fertilizers according to the growth needs of Cunninghamia lanceolata and increase the apication of organic fertilizers.Rotatewith leguminousand gramineous crops tobalance soil nutrients;improvethe community structureof artificial forestsand create mixed forests;timelycarryouttimelytending management,thinning andcontroling forest stand density.This article providesa reference for achieving the sustainable developmentof Cunninghamia lanceolata artificial forests.
