An Analysis of Focus and Trends of Cognitive Discourse Research in China and Abroad

Abstract ： Cognitive discourse research is a field at the intersection of cognition and discourse studies. Based on literature from 2000 to 2022 retrieved from databases of Web of Science Core Collections and CNKl， this paper attempts to analyze the focus and trends of cognitive discourse studies and indicate its prospects. It is found that cognitive discourse research mainly focuses on the psychological processes and cognitive attention of participants in discourse construction and comprehension. Cognitive discourse research also exhibits the characteristics of cognitive process orientation and professional practice application.Additionally，while cognitive discourse research displays a continuously prominent trend of interdisciplinary integration，its theoretical connotation and denotation have been gradually enriched. Relevant studies are conducted based on diferent research methods and theoretical frameworks. Taking these findings into account， cognitive discourse studies in the future should be oriented to improving theory building and empirical research grounded in multiple data，expanding the research domains and deepening localized research so as to facilitate the development of cognitive discourse research.
