Relationship between objectified bodyconsciousnessand social anxiety in female college students：the mediatingroleoffearofnegativeevaluation

【Abstract】Objective To explore the relationship among female college students'objectified body consciousness，social anxiety，and fear of negative evaluation.MethodsAquestionnaire survey was conducted through cluster random sampling among 317 femalecolege studentsat Qingdao University.Thequestionnaire survey included the Interaction Anxiousness Scale （IAS），the Objectified Body Consciousness Scale （OBCS），and the Brief Fear of Negative Evaluation Scale （BFNES）.Results ① A significant positive correlation was observed between the objectified body consciousness and social anxiety （r=0.56，P<0.001） ，as well as between objectified body consciousness and fear of negative evaluation（ r=0.61 P<0.001 ）.A significant positive correlation was identified between the fear of negative evaluation and social anxiety （r=0.62， P<0.001 ）； ② The mediation effect between objectifiedbodyconsciousnessand social anxiety was partialyexplainedbyfearof negativeevaluation，accounting for 49%of the mediation efect.ConclusionObjectified body consciousness not only directly aects the social anxietyoffemalecolegestudentsbutalsoindirectlyleads totheirsocialanxietybyinfluencing theirfearof negative evaluation.
