Analysis of the load-bearing capacity of the couplingend face of premium connection

Abstract:Theoperational requirements forlifting clampoperations at theoilfield sitedemandthatthecoupling end faces have ahigh load-bearing capacity,as their performance directly impactsthe safetyof casing string deployment and the eficiencyofoperations.Consequently,oilfield usersplacea strong emphasis onthe load-bearingcapacityof the coupling endfaces.Thestudyfocusesonaddresing the stressdistribution patterns,failure critical conditions,andtheeffcts on end face deformation during the lifting clamp operations. This paper selects the 273.05×13.8 4mm 140HC premium connection casing as the research subjectand employs finite element simulation techniques to systematicallanalyze thestress and strain distribution,localized stressconcentration phenomena,andoverall deformation paternsof the coupling end faces underlifting clampoperationalconditions.Theresultsdemonstrate that,ataratedloadof75Otons,noplasticdeformation orstructuralfailureoccurs inthecoupling endfaces,whiletheendfacethreadparametersremainstable.Theultimateloadbearingcapacityof thethreadedendfaceisdeterminedtobe62tons,withfailure modes primarilycharacterizedbylocalized yielding andexcessivecontact stress.Thispaper providetheoretical and technical references foroilfieldsiteconstruction operations.
