Abstract:This paper elaborates on the development trends of liquefied natural gas (LNG)tank container transportation under the context of China’s“Dual Carbon”policy,and introduces the current application status and standardization of LNG tank containers in road,waterway,and railway transport systems. Given that there is currently no standard specification for railway LNG tank containers in China,this study suggests critical technical criteria for strength assessment,such as shell thickness,tank structural strength,and frame strength,in accordance with the standards for road and waterway LNG tank containers. Additionally,it proposes issues that should be paid attention to.Taking the minimum thicknessof the inner vessel cylinder as an example,this paper elaborates on the evaluation process for calculating the shellthickness of railway LNG tank containers. Using a specific LNG tank container model as a case study,it introduces the computational load cases,application of inertial loads,and the methodology for stress result assessment. The study summarizes the strength evaluation of the container’s frame,frame connection points,and tank body, providing critical references and a technical basis for enhancing the structural integrity and safety of railway LNG tank containers.
