Abstract: Based on China’s recent coke production volumes and railway transportation trends,this study analyzes the development prospects of coke rail transport vehicles by examining the geographical disparity between coke and pig iron production sites,the quantitative data on coke output and freight volumes,and relevant national transportation policies. This paper conducts a comparative analysis of the characteristics of coke transportation via road,rail and waterway. Based on China’s curnt coke distribution pattrns,it concludes that railway transport is the most rational choice for domestic coke logistics in most scenarios, aligning with the requirements of developing a green economy.With advancements in coking technology and stricterenvironmental regulations,the adoption of“dry quenching”(CDQ)is becoming increasingly prevalent.Existing coke transportation equipment,however,suffers from varying degrees of payload loss and fails to adequately adapt to this shift. By analyzing trends in coking technology and evaluating China's coke transportation infrastructure,particularly the development of rotary car dumpers,this study identifies key limitations in current specialized coke gondolas and proposes the development of a new-generation 70-ton-class dedicated coke transport gondola,along with a forward-looking implementation roadmap.
