Study and Application of a Backpack Controller of Generator Set for Railway Cold-chain Transportation

Abstract:To satisfy the electric supply demand of single refrigerator containers that is in small batches, inteligent and unmanned in course of railway cold-chain transportation of perishable goods,a“backpack” controler has been designed for the diesel generator set.This controller obtains the real-time location information of the generator set through the Beidou positioning system,achieves the data interaction with the remote monitoring platform based on 4G communication technology and supports the control of the set’s actions with local butons and remote commands,effectively meeting the requirements of the set’s power generation function and remote monitoring demand.In addition,the controller integrates three power production modes that arecontinuous,cyclic and intelligent start and stop and can be flexibly switched according to the specific cold-chain transportation demands of goods so as to balance the power generation eficiency and the working energy consumption.To verify the performance of the controller,an unmanned railway cold-chain freight test was conducted from Yangpu Station in Shanghai to Chengdu Freight Center. The test results show that the generator set has completed the power generation task stably and reliably and the controller has significantly reduced the labor costs,improves the economic and practical operation of the generator set and provides strong technical support for promoting the development of intellgent and unmanned railway cold-chain transportation.
