Digital Economy Empowering Urban-Rural Integration： Dynamic Evolution， Structural Imbalances， and Rural Digitalization Pathways

Abstract： Digital economic development presents new opportunities for resolving the urban-rural dichotomy，yet structurally imbalanced and insuficient development persists， exhibiting novel disparity evolution patterns. Based on a“technological empowerment-mechanism deconstruction-path inovation” framework and China’s 1978—2O21 panel data，this study uncovers evolutionary trajectories and causal mechanisms of urban-rural disparities. Key findings reveal tripartite divergence： （1）a“convergence paradox” manifested through narrowing relative income ratios alongside widening absolute gaps；（2）an east-west regional gradient differentiation；（3） intensifying digital wealth gap within rural communities. Mechanism analysis demonstrates digital economies aleviate disparities by driving spatial restructuring， reconfiguring production factors，and reinventing institutions.Therefore，balanced digital infrastructure deployment，bidirectional data flow facilitation，and institutional integration constitute essential pathways to energize rural revitalization，coordinate regional development， and achieve common prosperity.
